For years, I was told that inflamed, red and itchy eczema was a surface problem. There is something wrong with your skin and you can’t do anything about it. For years I listened to that advice and lived in pain and suffering that lasted every second of every single day and that advice almost ended my life.
The unspoken truth is that your body is inflamed because of your dietary choices and that inflammation comes out on your skin like it used to do on mine until I started the ultimate elimination diet that saved many from eczema and other inflamatory disease.
The diets I am going to talk about today are carnivore, keto, and the lion diet which, if not cured, are going to improve your eczema, and I will show scientific evidence and transformations of mine and other people who went through a similar situation as I did.
What if I told you that the angry, inflamed patches on your skin aren’t just a surface problem—they’re a message from deep within your body? After years of steroid creams that only masked my symptoms, I discovered something that changed everything: the connection between what I ate and my eczema flares. Within 90 days of changing my diet and adding specific supplements, my skin transformed in ways I never thought possible.
You’re not alone in this struggle. Eczema affects over 31 million Americans, and conventional treatments often fall short of providing lasting relief. But emerging research shows that what you put INTO your body matters just as much as what you put ON your skin. The gut-skin axis—the bidirectional communication between your digestive system and your skin—plays a crucial role in eczema development and severity.
This isn’t about quick fixes or miracle cures. This is about understanding the root causes of inflammation, identifying your personal triggers, and using evidence-based dietary strategies and targeted supplementation to support your body’s natural healing processes. Whether you’re dealing with mild flares or severe atopic dermatitis, the strategies in this guide can help you take control of your skin health from the inside out.
You can calculate how inflammatory your current diet is for your skin on the eczema inflammation checker. Which helped many people see what foods are causing them eczema and what to do to stop that.
Understanding the importance of the Gut-Skin Connection and Eczema
I will now tell you something that will leave you shocked. You don’t have problems with your skin. As weird and contradictory as this sounds, if you are reading this, you probably have some kind of eczema, but you have a problem with your gut.
Your gut is unhealhy which causes inflammation in other parts of your body. For some, this might be their joints, which cause rheumatism, for those like you and me who suffer from eczema inflammation from our gut, which goes to our skin, causing eczema all over our bodies.
For years i spent a lot of money on overly expensive, useless creams I could barely afford, for years they fed me steroid creams that destroyed my joints, growth, immune system, and my health. I thought I would never be able to recover, and my dermatitis got worse day after day and month after month, which put me in a deep depression, but thankfully, I found a solution in the carnivore diet.
This diet healed my leaky gut, which stoped inflamation going on my skin in just a couple of months. The carnivore diet is a diet where you only eat animal foods. So basically you will just eat meat, fish, milk, eggs, chees.
If some of you have issues with milk or eggs, I would strongly reccomend to go on a Lion Diet, which is the purest diet that exists, and this diet contains just red meat, salt, and water. Almost nobody in the world is allergic to red meat, unlike eggs and milk.
How The Carnivore Diet Cured My Allergies
I can’t promise the same results for everyone, of course, everyone’s body is different which will change how fast you get certain results, but when I started the diet, I didn’t drink any milk because I had mild allergic reactions to it, but after I have been on the carnivor/Lion diet for around 8 months I tried drinking milk and it had no negative effects like it used to.
This happened to many other people as well, but I can’t guarantee that this will happen to you. I didnt except this to happen, even though quickly after I heard and started exploring the carnivore diet, I read many personal experiences of people that stoped being allergic to dust, pets and pollens.
This was the first time that I ever heard in my life that you can heal from allergies and it was hard to believe because my doctors were actively telling me otherwise.
Since the first month I started carnivore, I started seeing improvements in my allergies, and it took only six months with the protocol that I researched and created to be completely allergy-free from everything there is. Since I know myself, I had terrible allergies, and when I was little I remember everyone telling my mother that they would go away when I turned 7 or 8, and then it was when I went into puberty. But when I did get into puberty they got so bad I couldnt breath out of my nose at all.
Best Supplements for Eczema: What Actually Works
Supplementation is also very important if you are struggling with Eczema. It is most important that you direct your focus mainly to the things that you can’t get through food, or it is very hard to get enough. I researched the best supplements on the market, and I will tell you which ones I bought for myself and which ones helped me the most.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
I first started researching omega-3 before my topical dermatitis was extremely bad. I started researching and using it for all the benefits for physical recovery and performance that omega-3 has, which I made an article on. Of course, later my topical dermatitis got so bad that not only could I not train boxing like I used to, but I couldn’t get out of the house at all.
It was only years later that I started noticing the positive effects that Omega-3 has on people that strugle with inflamation includeing inflamation on the skin.
EPA and DHA whcih are compounds of Omega-3, suppress production of inflammatory cytokines like IL-6 and TNF-alphaZ. This not only blocks inflammation but also actively cleans it up.
If you want the best anti-inflammatory effect, you should take at least 4,000 mg of EPA/DHA combined. This is usually 4 capsules because most brands I saw offer 1,000 mg per capsule. The most important thing about Omega-3 is that it is fat-soluble which means you will absorb it best with a fat meal, which will help the absorption by around 70%.
I take mine with the first meal of the day, which is breakfast for all of you that don’t do intermittent fasting.
There are many Omega-3 supplements on the market, but the two best ones that I personally used both are Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega and Dr. Berg’s Wild-Caught Omega-3 Cod Liver Fish Oil
I don’t want to complicate things for you by confusing you with too much information on the problems of farm-raised fish, but what you need to know is that it is very important that these 2 supplements have an extremly high quality source. Both of these supplements get their Omega-3 from wild-caught fish, which is at least a thousand times better than farm-raised fish like salmon. That is because those fish don’t have their natural diet there and can’t be optimally healthy to produce omega-3, which makes the product useless.
Probiotics
If you have eczema, that means you have gut problems. Most likely, a leaky gut is which is a condition where the gut lining’s tight junctions loosen, allowing undigested food particles, toxins, and bacteria to pass into the bloodstream, potentially triggering inflammation and immune responses.
This isn’t even a question if leaky gut can cause inflammatory disease like dermatitis. The question is how to repair your gut so your body works smoothly and healthily as it should be. While the point of an elimination diet like the lion diet is to fix leaky gut and inflammation in your body, you still need probiotics to optimize everything.
Probiotics are essential for proper gut function, but it is especialy important when you are healing your gut instead of just maintaining a healthy gut. This is because you need much more support when healing from leaky gut, and then you shouldn’t be worried as much about probiotics.
This is one of the things that I started using before discovering the carnivore diet, and of course, on its own, it didn’t have any noticeable positive effect, but when I started the carnivore diet, using probiotics made my progress a lot faster.
I tested a couple of them, and none worked as well as Dr.bergs Probiotics with Prebiotic Blend because it supports the elimination diet that I was on and I am currently on, but also because of the impressive number of 60 billion CFU, which is more than most supplements provide.
I would suggest you to start with 1 capsule a day and than proggres to 2 if you need to, but if you are going to take 2 a day, I would recommend you to take 1 for a week or two so you can avoid any digestive issues.
To maximize probiotic bioviability you should take them on an empty stomach. I take them the first thing in the morning with some water at least 30 minutes before the first meal of the day.
Vitamin D-3
As important as other supplements are for Eczema, Vitamin D-3 is a must, besides its crucial functions that help your body support bone and muscle strength and promote a healthy immune and metabolic system.
I think vitamin D-3 is so important for eczema sufferers like us that if I were allowed to only have one supplement, it would be a Vitmain d-3. This is because it has anti-inflammatory effects on your overall body, and the fact that most people are very deficient in it.
The reason why most of the population is deficient in Vitamin D-3 is that it is very hard to get through the diet. Only a couple of foods contain vitamin d-3 like salmon, sardines, egg yolks, and milk, but as great as these foods are, and many of these I consume every day, they don’t have enough for an optimal daily dosage and nearly enough vitamin D-3 in them for curing chronic diseases like atopic dermatitis and allergies.
You may be wondering if humans need vitamin D-3 so much, how were people getting it for thousands of years before supplementation existed? Well, sunlight is the number one way of getting vitamin D-3, and people used to be exposed to the sun much more than now.
I would recommend you to get more sunlight as well, but I know that there are many factors that you can’t control, and being in the sun is one of those. You most likely have school or work when the sun is the most effective, and considering that you need vitamin D-3 every single day it is not a good idea to only get it when the weekend hits.
This is an easy and fast solution to a big problem that affects most people, but especially those who struggle with eczema and allergies.
Vitamin D-3 is absorbed most effectively when taken with a fatty meal because it is a fat-soluble vitamin. Also, many supplements come with vitamin k2 which has many benefits on its own and helps absorption of vitamin D3.
I personally use and deeply reccomend dr. bergs vitamin D-3. Dr Berg also creates content about vitamin d-3 and is the first person that I heard the importance of vitamin D-3 from, especially for people like us who are struggling with inflammatory diseases and allergies.

Zinc
Zinc was especially useful for me because I had a lot of infections and I used so many antibiotics that they started becoming useless.
I would say that is the biggest benefit of zinc. The help with wound healing, which is of course needed for all people with Eczema, especially those of you like I was that have a lot of wounds and are prone to getting infected. Also Zinc is very beneficial for the skin overall and, most importantly immune system. Zinc will make your whole body stronger, which is infinitely important if you are struggling with infections like I was.
Other Zinc benefits:
- Hormone production
- Protein and DNA synthesis
- Immune defenses
- Tissue growth and repair
- Neurotransmitter balance
Zinc is only found in animal foods, which just shows how good carnivore or keto diets are for people going through eczema.
You can find plenty of Zinc in oysters, poultry, seafood, but by far the most zinc is found in red meat.
But if you have eczema, you don’t just need enough zinc to not be deficient; you want to thrive with the amount of zinc you take so you can heal properly.
The average person should take around 30mg of zinc in supplements daily, but if you have eczema, you should take more, especially if you are going through an infection. I personally take 50mg before sleep every night.
