Question: Does Alcohol Consumption Trigger Eczema?

Answer: Yes, alcohol is unhealthy and harmful for everybody, but especially for people with inflammatory problems like eczema.

Alcohol is bad for eczema because it dehydrates your body, triggers histamine release, creates inflammation, creates a leaky gut, and weakens the immune system.

The absolute worst thing that alcohol can do for your eczema is create a leaky gut. There is strong evidence that leaky gut is the main cause of inflammatory health problems like eczema. Leaky gut is a term for gut damage that occurs after a lot of alcohol, seed oils, junk food, grains, medication, and antibiotic use.

After this happens, your gut starts to have gaps between the cells, which allows food and alcohol to go into your bloodstream, which creates a lot of inflammation.

How To Heal?

I used to like alcohol a lot; it was a great way to cope with my severe eczema that destroyed my life for years. One time I got an infection so bad that I had to be hospitalized for a month. As soon as I left the hospital, I got drunk to get relief from the hardest experience of my life.

Not surprisingly, I soon got another skin infection. Now, I am not saying that alcohol was the reason why I got another skin infection, but it definitely played a part in that. After this, I felt scared and hopeless, not knowing if I would ever have a normal life.

It has been over two years since then, and I am completly eczema free. Soon after that infection, I started taking things into my own hands and doing my own research, where I focus on things like the optimal elimination diet, fasting, gut health, supplementation, etc.
