Are Cleaning Products An Eczema Trigger?

Question: Are Cleaning Products An Eczema Trigger?

Answer: Yes, unfortunately, most household cleaning products are eczema triggers. These products frequently cause irritation and strip the skin of its natural oils and defenses. After you come into contact with these products, your skin will be left dry, cracked, and irritated.

This is even worse for cleaning products that have fragrances added to them; these fragrances are one of the most common triggers for people with eczema.

To fix this, you need to start using non-toxic natural alternatives like baking soda and white vinegar. Even products that say they are non-toxic have dozens of chemicals that were never studied for long-term use in people with eczema.

Baking soda is the best natural alternative for cleaning dishes, clothes, and even cleaning teeth. This is because baking soda is a mild abrasive with an optimal pH.

Baking soda is very gentle on skin; unlike bleach- or ammonia-based cleaners, baking soda will not strip the skin’s natural oils, making it a safer option for eczema-prone skin.

White vinegar’s acidity makes it effective at breaking down grease, mineral deposits, and buildup, all without skin-irritating chemicals.

Both baking soda and vinegar are 100% natural and dye-free; unlike store-bought products, they are also very affordable and easy to find.

How I Healed Severe Eczema

Don’t get me wrong, avoiding toxic cleaning products and using non-toxic alternatives can be beneficial, but that will never significantly improve your eczema. If you want to see significant improvement or maybe even completely heal as I did, then you need to stop focusing on external things and focus on the health of your own body.

Your skin is sensitive to cleaning products because of a damaged immune system that doesn’t know what a real threat is and what is harmless. And around 80% of your immune system is in your gut, which means that if your gut is damaged and inflamed, your skin will be as well.

If you truly want to treat the root cause instead of covering the problem up with creams, you need to focus on your gut health and heal leaky gut.
